NITC Meeting
The next meeting of the N
ebraska Information Technology Commission is scheduled for January 23, 2002 in Room 103 of the Executive Building, 521 S. 14th, with additional videoconference locations in Kearney and Scottsbluff. Please visit http://www.nitc.state.ne.us for updated meeting information.

Video Standards
The draft document detailing the video and audio standards for synchronous distance learning systems will be considered for approval by the NITC at their January 23 meeting. Click HERE to view the document.

Deadlines near for Community Technology Fund 
The Nebraska Information Technology Commission is now accepting applications for the Community Technology Fund 2002.  Approximately $200,000 is available for community information technology projects.    Applicants must notify the NITC of their intent to submit an application by 5:00 p.m. CT Friday, January 18, 2002.  Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. CT, Friday, February 15, 2002.  Read the press release.  

Building  Information Age Communities conference addresses community technology planning 
Plan to attend the Building Information Age Communities conference April 12 at the Leadership Center in Aurora.   The conference will focus on developing community plans to enhance community and economic development.  Community success stories will also be highlighted.   Conference sponsors include the Office of Governor Mike Johanns, the Nebraska Information Technology Commission, University of Nebraska's Technologies Across Nebraska initiative, the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, the Nebraska Public Service Commission, and the Nebraska Rural Development Commission.  More information will be available in early February.

The next Education Council Meeting will be held Friday, January 18, 2002 from 9:00AM-12:00PM CT in Lincoln, Nebraska; Room 103 of the Executive Building, 521 S. 14th with additional NVCN locations at Chadron State College, Wayne State College, and UNMC.

Digital State Survey Results
Nebraska compares favorably with other states in its adoption of e-government technology. The 2001 Digital State Survey -- conducted by The Progress & Freedom Foundation and the Center for Digital Government -- ranks the states on their use of technology in several categories. Final results for the survey were release earlier this month. Click the links below for more information.
