NITC Meeting
The next meeting of the Nebraska Information Technology Commission is set for Wednesday, April 25, 2001, 1:30-5:00 p.m. CT at the York Country Club, 1016 W
. Elm Street in York, Nebraska.

Legislation Web Site
The NITC has set up a Web site to track information technology related legislation. The site will be updated by 9:00 a.m. each day the Legislature is in session.

Technologies Across Nebraska
Technologies Across Nebraska is an initiative led by University of Nebraska Cooperative Extension to create awareness and provide education to support communities as they make decisions regarding their future use of information technology. The initiative will provide a network of expertise to assist communities in locating current information on infrastructure, policy and education and training issues and opportunities.

Nebraska Educational Technology Association (NETA) Annual Conference will be held at the 72nd & Grover Holiday Inn in Omaha, April 26-27. Attendees will be able to select from over 140 sessions.

Final regulations for implementing the E-rate portion of the Children's Internet Protection were released by the Federal Communications Commission on April 5.

A draft version of the Technology Standards for School Administrators (TSSA) was released by ISTE in collaboration with a host of professional organizations. Feedback is being sought. 

Internet 2 Comes to Washington State Schools and Community Colleges The University of Washington and the Department of Information Services are cooperating on the plan.

UNL partners with the Academic Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Collaborative Laboratory of the Department of Defense ADL Initiative.

CEO Forum releases a policy paper for federal policymakers  that contains education technology
recommendations. 

The next Education Council Meeting will be held Friday, April 20, 2001 from 9AM-12PM CT at ESU 10, 76 Plaza Boulevard, Kearney, Nebraska

Security Architecture
The Technical Panel of the NITC established the Security Architecture Work Group to prepare security policies and guidelines for state government agencies and educational institutions. The NITC adopted these security policies at their January 2001 meeting. To learn more, and to review the security policies, visit the Security Architecture Work Group Web site.

E-Government Architecture
The Technical Panel has also chartered a work group to make recommendations for an electronic government architecture. This work group has developed a draft E-government Architecture document, and welcomes any comments or suggestions on that document. Click here for more information.
